Each of their projects is unique and will usually start with a design brief which is then refined to deliver a unique building. All materials, engineering and construction is done at the factory site and the completed modules are then shipped to their destination for final assembly. The modules are assembled within a high tolerance 3-dimensional jig system which determines the accuracy of the volumetric form. The jig is formed via a hydraulic system to very close tolerance then welding begins. This determines the size and shape of the module for the rest of its design life enabling them to act as a monocoque or structural skin in which loads are supported by the external perimeters of the individual modules, following similar load lines to conventional construction. The shape of the modules can be any configuration which is transportable and need not be rectilinear.
The construction method also allows far greater flexibility, enabling changes to design and fittings to be rapidly incorporated without significantly impacting deadlines or costs. There is a significant market for temporary buildings, but this agility gives the contractor a unique position in the film making market and with exhibition work in particular, where fluidity is essential.
The factory is a single large 19,000 square foot space which allows for the full-size construction of modules prior to shipping. Within the space is a portacabin office and kitchen along with two industrial storage containers. The factory is based in a rural UK location with easy unobstructed access and only a short distance from a major transport route.
Although the business is focused on temporary structures, they are compliant with building and safety regulations and the business could expand into the permanent modular building market where the speed of construction would give a significant competitive advantage.
